Coproduction between Peru’s America Television and Venezolana de Television.

Shot on location in Peru where the story took place.  Cesar Vallejo, the poet of the rain, sadness and loneliness revolutionized poetry with his special way of chewing up words to arrive at the essence.  He was inseparable from his native high mountain Andean background and wrote not a word that didn’t come from his gut.  He was an elementary teacher, a cashier at a large ranch, a journalist and always a poet.  He wrote about the injustices of the poor, of the Indians, of the miners.  He died of hunger in Paris true to his words.
